FirstMerit Appoints Lochner President, FirstMerit Michigan

AKRON, Ohio, Feb. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- FirstMerit Corporation (Nasdaq: FMER) announces the appointment of David J. Lochner as President, FirstMerit Michigan. Lochner will have responsibility for and oversight of FirstMerit's commercial banking operations in the state of Michigan, pending the closing of FirstMerit's announced acquisition of Citizens Republic Bancorp. He will report to David G. Goodall, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Banking Officer.

Prior to joining FirstMerit, Lochner served as Director of Commercial Banking in Michigan for RBS Citizens N.A., Member Royal Bank of Scotland Group, and had overall responsibility for commercial, industrial and not-for-profit clients in the middle market segment. Previously, he was a Senior Vice President and Commercial Banking Division Head for LaSalle Bank Midwest. He began his banking career at National Bank of Detroit, where he held various positions in Corporate Banking, Middle Market Banking and Commercial Credit Administration.

Lochner earned his MBA in Finance from Washington University and his Bachelor's degree in Instrumental Music Education from Eastern Michigan University.  He serves on the Board of Trustees of the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts, the Board of Directors of the British American Business Counsel of Michigan, the Board of Directors and the Fund Development Committee of the Midnight Golf Program, and the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee of Lutheran Social Services of Michigan Foundation.  He is also a member of the Association for Corporate Growth.  Previously, he served on the Board of Directors, Executive and Finance Committees of the Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion. Lochner is a resident of West Bloomfield, Michigan.
