FITNESS CONNECTION ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR NEW FACILITY AS PART OF CITYNORTH INDUSTRIAL PARK DEVELOPMENT

Local Gym Chain to Remain Open in Greenspoint Mall Throughout Construction Before Moving into its Newest Facility in Texas.

HOUSTON, Sept. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Fitness Connection, a Texas-based fitness chain committed to providing premium fitness at an accessible price, today announced plans for a new 45,000-square-foot facility as part of the recently announced $150 million CityNorth industrial park redevelopment that will transform the former Greenspoint Mall site.

The announcement marks the next chapter in a relationship between Fitness Connection and the Greenspoint community that spans more than two decades.

Fitness Connection's story in Greenspoint began in March 2005, when it opened its club inside Greenspoint Mall. As most businesses moved out, Fitness Connection remained committed to serving its members and the North Houston community, and is currently the only remaining business in the mall. Fitness Connection is now working in partnership with Lincoln and New York Life Real Estate, to remain open in its current location as construction on the project begins.

Once the CityNorth redevelopment reaches the appropriate stage, Fitness Connection will move into its brand-new facility. The estimated $15 million facility will include state-of-the-art strength and cardio equipment, premium recovery amenities like cold and compression therapy, and a few unique experiences that Fitness Connection will reveal at a later time.

Demolition of the mall is slated to begin in October 2026 and is expected to support approximately 300 construction jobs and accommodate 1,200 full-time jobs when fully developed.

The CityNorth announcement follows a $12 million investment by Fitness Connection to upgrade clubs across the Dallas and Houston markets with new equipment, refreshed interiors and updated branding. The Carrollton, Federal and The Woodlands clubs underwent the most significant transformations, adding expanded strength training spaces and premium recovery amenities. A fourth location in Pasadena is currently undergoing similar upgrades, with completion expected in early November. With additional club transformations planned for 2027, Fitness Connection continues to invest in creating a more premium member experience across its U.S. markets.

The investments are part of Fitness Connection's broader commitment to creating high-quality fitness environments traditionally found in boutique studios, but providing them without the premium price tag.
