Five CEO Tips for Great Video Presentations

1. Be visual. As much as possible, create a visual image of your story by holding a product, walking through a manufacturing line or giving an appropriate demo. Use items and locations to make your presentation as visual as possible. If you use slides, don't let them distract from you or the presenter. Slides are just an aide to your presentation.
2. Practice what you want to say. The old saying, 'practice makes perfect,' is very true for video presentations. The more comfortable you are with the content of your presentation the more natural and spontaneous you become. As you practice, focus on adding comfortable pauses in your presentation and practice aloud.
3. Be deliberate and interesting. You want to get off to a strong start with your presentation. Humor is a good way to do so – if you can pull it off. Telling a compelling story that reinforces the point of your presentation also works very well. Finally, you want to end on a strong note that inspires your audience and compels them to action.
4. How you look and act is important. Your non-verbal communications during your presentation – especially on video – has an effect on your message and how well you deliver it. Sit or stand professionally using correct posture. Don't move or wiggle around if you are sitting. If you are standing, move deliberately but slowly – with purpose. Busy clothing patterns don't work well on camera. Wear solid colors to look your best.
5. Use professionals. There are two ways you can utilize professionals. First is for the production itself. If the video you are creating warrants it, use professional videographers to help you create a video presentation that communicates your important message.
