RIDLEY TOWNSHIP, Pa., Dec. 6, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Five women – one shared obstacle: unemployment.  But unlike the millions of others actively looking for work, these women were given a leg up on the competition: complete makeovers including hair style, hair color, makeup and new interview suits.

Today, Marc Voci Salon and Colorbar of Delaware County, the Career Wardrobe of Philadelphia and Clarins, the European leader in luxury skin care; joined forces to give Denise Searfass, Karen Fisher, Valerie Keebler, Lyn McCafferty and Virginia Cheung complementary makeovers.

The event, dubbed Style Me Happy, was developed by salon owner Marc Voci to help people in the community who are out of work and to raise awareness about the unemployment crisis. "Makeovers bring happiness and confidence to people," Voci said.  "These five women have overcome adversity and are extremely talented. Our goal here today is to give them a renewed sense of hope.  Hope that they will get good jobs and be able to provide for their families."

Makeover winner Lyn McCafferty from Folsom, Pa., has filled out over 200 job applications since June 2010, when she was laid off from her job as an editor. "Applications seem to go into a black hole online," she said.  "About 10 percent of the time, I receive notification the position was filled but for the most part, I hear nothing. The silence is deafening."

All five winners received a complete interview suit from Career Wardrobe. Since its inception in 1995, The Career Wardrobe has assisted over 70,000 women by inspiring the confidence necessary to recognize their capacity for self-reliance and achieve independence not only by providing professional attire, but also with innovative programs designed to help women maintain employment.

Clarins gave each winner a complimentary 20-minute Skin Time Facial Treatment before makeup was applied.  Clarins Account Development Specialist Susan Sorrell explained that the treatment begins with a quick, yet thorough client consultation to identify and target her skin care needs.  "Taking care of your skin is imperative," she said.  "We teach you the power of touch and proper makeup application."  Clarins is now offering these free treatments nationwide at every Clarins counter.
