Florida Inventors Hall of Fame Issues Call for Nominations for Inaugural Class of Inventors

TAMPA, Fla., March 27, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Florida Inventors Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for its inaugural class of inventors whose achievements have advanced the quality of life for Floridians, the State of Florida, and the United States. The deadline for nominations is Jun. 2, 2014.

"We are excited to be selecting our inaugural class for the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame, honoring and celebrating those who personify invention and innovation in the State of Florida," said Paul R. Sanberg, chair of the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame Advisory Board and president of the National Academy of Inventors.

Nominations to the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame are open to all Florida inventors (living or dead) who have been residents of Florida and completed a substantial amount of their inventive work while living and/or employed in the State. The nominee must be a named inventor on a U.S. patent issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The impact of the inventor and his or her invention should be significant to society as a whole, and the invention should have been commercialized, utilized, or led to important innovations. 

To nominate an individual for the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame, visit http://FloridaInvents.org and complete the online nomination form. The nominations will be reviewed by a Selection Committee comprised of experts in the relevant fields of innovation. The inventors elected will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at a ceremony to be held Sep. 10, 2014, at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

The Advisory Board of the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame is comprised of leaders and inventors representing public corporations, private businesses, research universities, nonprofit institutes, and governmental agencies on a regional, state and national level.
