"Our continued emphasis on education truly speaks to PhotoPlus' commitment to excellence in the area of photographic education," explains Lauren Wendle, Vice President and Group Publisher of Photo District News. "We continue to look at the changing market and create a learning environment to educate attendees in the areas that are most critical to their business. At PhotoPlus, we continue to be inspired by the overwhelming response we receive by attendees who view this show as a must-attend event."
Expanding business opportunities, advanced imaging techniques, and new technologies are the reasons why PDN PhotoPlus Expo has added more than 65 new seminars to the 2010 schedule. Seminars covering Wedding, Video, the Business of Photography, Marketing, Website Development, multi-Media, and Social Media are designed to educate and inspire photographers and imaging professionals at every level.
PDN PhotoPlus Expo has secured three of the most dynamic, influential, and successful photographers to conduct the keynote presentations each day during the show. Chase Jarvis, Albert Watson, and Cristina Mittermeier will each share their experiences and insight to photography each day from 11:30 a.m. -- 12:30 p.m.
Thursday, October 28 -- Chase Jarvis (11:30 a.m.--12:30 p.m.)
"Award winning photographer Chase Jarvis shares his insights on the convergence of the photography, technology, and new media by hosting his underground online show, "chasejarvisLIVE," direct from PhotoPlus. This live broadcast promises to educate and demonstrate how Jarvis and some of his peers are re-examining and, in part, redefining creativity on a global level. Recognized by PDN as one of the 30 most influential photographers of the decade, Jarvis has set the standard as a creative who breaks the traditional rules and shares his art via digital platforms - most often with platforms of his own design. His artistic vision has helped transform his message of 'the democratization of creativity' into a global online movement, with one of the most loyal and robust online followings of any single photographer to date."
Friday, October 29 -- Albert Watson (11:30 a.m.--12:30 p.m.)
Albert Watson has been recognized by numerous organizations, including PDN, as one of the 20 most influential photographers of all time. Watson's latest masterpiece is a ten-year, behind the scenes portrait of Las Vegas, which debuts this fall with the monograph "Strip Search" and an accompanying gallery exhibit at New York's Hasted Hunt Kraeutler. Attendees will experience an intimate dialogue between Watson and legendary photo editor Laurie Kratochvil as they discuss his latest project and take questions from the audience. Two great pioneers. One stage. One day only.
Saturday, October 30 -- Cristina Mittermeier (11:30 a.m.--12:30 p.m.)
The work of conservation photographers covers a range of threats to biodiversity—everything from poaching and global warming to habitat loss and cultural erosion—and is indeed a critical component in the conversation toolbox. President of ILCP (International League of Conservation Photographers), Mittermeier spent the last year traveling from the shores of British Columbia to the Amazon rainforest to document the changing lifestyles of indigenous people due to external industrial threats to their homeland. Educational, alarming, and enlightening describe her presentation and multi-media slide show.
