For First Time 112 Mars Petcare Associates & Friends Race for PEDIGREE Foundation

NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- PEDIGREE Foundation announced today that it raised more than $112,000 to help dogs across the country find loving homes. More than 112 Mars Petcare US associates, friends and family joined together for this year's Country Music Marathon & 1/2 Marathon presented by Nissan to help raise money and shine a spotlight on the plight of homeless dogs.

Through no fault of their own, more than four million dogs end up in shelters and rescues every year. Because of their love of dogs and commitment to finding dogs loving homes, the associates from Mars Petcare US committed to running or walking this year's race, which was the first marathon or 1/2 marathon for many. As the largest pet charity team on race day, many associates trained with the help of their own four-legged friends.

In addition to the 112 associates and friends running and walking the Country Music Marathon & 1/2 Marathon, Mars Petcare US associates located in the Franklin, Tenn. headquarters pulled together to support the fundraising efforts. From hosting a silent auction, bake sales, and cook-offs, each associate did their part to support this cause close to their hearts.
