Ford Motor Company Provides $50,000 for Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

• Ford employees and Ford Motor Company Fund are contributing $50,000 to the American Red Cross and its local chapters for areas hit by Hurricane Sandy
• Ford Motor Company is an active partner in the 2012 Red Cross Disaster Responder Program
• American Red Cross and Ford have partnered for more than 30 years

Ford employees and Ford Motor Company Fund are donating $50,000 to the American Red Cross and its chapters to assist with disaster relief in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.  

"Hurricane Sandy has had a devastating impact on many states," said Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services.  "We know that the need for assistance is great, and we are pleased to partner with American Red Cross to help provide relief."

This donation is part of Ford's involvement in the 2012 Red Cross Disaster Responder Program.  Under this program, a select group of companies pledge donations on an ongoing basis in advance of major disasters, which helps the Red Cross ensure an immediate response to meet the needs of those affected by disasters. Ford Motor Company has partnered with the American Red Cross for more than 30 years.

In the days and weeks to come, the Red Cross will work with emergency officials and other partners to help individuals and families get the help they need. Red Cross disaster relief workers already are operating shelters and feeding operations and organizing distribution of clean-up and other supplies.  Damage assessment teams are helping determine the full scope of the damage and Red Cross health services and mental health workers are helping people cope with what they've seen and experienced.
