Former CIA Inspector General Joins KPMG To Lead Federal Forensic Practice

NEW YORK, March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- KPMG LLP, the U.S. audit, tax and advisory firm, today announced that David Buckley, former Inspector General for the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), has joined the firm as a managing director in its Forensic Advisory Services. In this role, he will lead KPMG's Federal Forensic practice, with primary responsibility for providing investigative and integrity advisory services to civilian agencies within the Federal government, entailing fraud risk assessments, compliance and ethics program development and integrity monitoring.

Buckley was nominated by U.S. President Barack Obama to serve as Inspector General for the CIA from October 2010 to January 2015. In this role, he provided independent statutory oversight of the CIA and assessed agency programs for effectiveness, economy and efficiency. He led internal investigations of fraud, waste, abuse and improper activities, and managed audit and inspection programs designed to assess and mitigate risk throughout the CIA.

Prior to serving as Inspector General for the CIA, Buckley has more than three decades of Federal government experience in both the executive and legislative branches, including as Staff Director for the Minority, Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence for the U.S. House of Representatives and as Chief Investigator for the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.

Buckley has held previous investigative and leadership roles within the Inspector General offices of the U.S. Department of Treasury for Tax Administration as well as for the U.S. Department of Defense and for the Office of Special Investigations for the then U.S. General Accounting Office.  He had also spent three years in the private sector as a consultant to Federal national security clients at Deloitte. He earned a Bachelor of Science from University of Maryland University College.
