Fortune Data Centers Signs First Turnkey Customer to San Jose Facility

SAN JOSE, Calif., May 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Fortune Data Centers has added Zoosk as its first turnkey customer at the San Jose facility. Zoosk, the romantic social network, will migrate from a retail colocation facility to Fortune's s wholesale data center. Fortune's turnkey solution offers a physically secured suite with dual independent power paths for tenant IT. Like other Fortune tenants, Zoosk's installation will benefit from state of the art energy efficiency—including 100% aisle containment, as well as the ability to take advantage of Fortune's low cost Direct Access power.

Update on Fortune's Direct Access Program

In 2011, Fortune's San Jose facility became the first data center in California to competitively procure power for its tenants through the California Public Utilities Commission Direct Access program, achieving nearly a 4 cent/kWh reduction in cost versus the comparable summer utility tariff.

Since then Fortune has realized substantial savings that are passed to its tenants. By competitively bidding the power supply contract, Fortune is now delivering power costs of 8.5 cents/kW. "The benefits of direct access have far exceeded our expectations. We have saved our tenants more than $1 million dollars annually on their power costs," said Sheputis. "We believe Fortune now has the lowest power costs of any Silicon Valley data center. Fortune's current delivered cost of power is 30% below the comparable PG&E tariff and 16% lower than the comparable tariff from Silicon Valley Power," Sheputis added.
