Four Freedoms Park Conservancy Announces One Millionth Visitor To Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms State Park
NEW YORK, Oct. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Four Freedoms Park Conservancy anticipates welcoming its one-millionth visitor to Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms State Park on Saturday, October 6 – a major milestone that comes on the heels of a record-breaking surge in visitation to the memorial over the past year.
The Louis Kahn-designed Park, which opened in 2012 and is located on the southern tip of Roosevelt Island, is a memorial to Franklin D. Roosevelt and his vision for universal human rights: freedom of speech & expression, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. In addition to operating and maintaining the 4.5-acre waterfront Park, Four Freedoms Park Conservancy develops innovative public programming and educational initiatives that attract visitors looking for a meaningful connection to the four freedoms.
Since opening, the Park has welcomed thousands of school students from the five boroughs and across the NYC metro area, developed photo and sketch contests, hosted two naturalization ceremonies for dozens of new Americans, invited thousands to witness "Manhattanhenge" from its shores, and held annual kite-making workshops for International Peace Day.

The celebration will take place during Roosevelt Island's annual Fall for Arts festival, an island-wide celebration of art and autumn. Visitors can expect yoga classes, music, and live mural painting on the lawn of FDR Four Freedoms State Park. All activities are free and open to the public.
