Four-Time Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Johnson to Host 6th Annual Youth Track Camp this July

MCKINNEY, Texas, May 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael Johnson Performance (MJP) will host the 6^th annual Michael Johnson Premier Track Camp for youth athletes between the ages of 9 and 18 from July 8^th to 11th. Four-time Olympic Gold Medalist and world-record holder Michael Johnson will be joined by some of the greatest track athletes in Olympic history for the four-day camp.

The Michael Johnson Track Camp will offer athletes world class coaching and instruction on techniques and strategies for success on the track. Michael Johnson, joined by fellow Olympians, and MJP coaches will share expert sprinting and running technique, speed and power development, and insight to mental skills required in sport. New this year, attendees will be offered the opportunity to improve their sprinting efficiency and mechanics by receiving a personalized stride analysis, evaluated by MJP performance specialists utilizing their Dartfish video analysis program.

Johnson is considered one of the greatest sprinters in the history of track and field. He won four Olympic gold medals and nine World Championships during his career.  Johnson will be joined by three-time Olympic gold medalist Jeremy Wariner, two-time Olympic bronze medalist Melissa Morrison-Howard and Jamaican Olympic silver medalist Michael Blackwood. These athletes have a combined 11 Olympic medals, and they bring a wealth of experience to share the strategies and skills they gained through years of hard work and dedication to achieve the pinnacle of success on the track.

The first 50 youth athletes to sign up for camp will be entered to win a private coaching session with Michael Johnson and a pair of limited edition Nike running shoes. Every youth athlete who registers will receive an MJP t-shirt to commemorate the experience. Youth athletes of all skill levels and abilities will be trained in age-specific groups.
