FOX Architects Wins Big at IIDA Design Awards

WASHINGTON, April 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- FOX Architects, an expert in commercial office design, today announced that it received two prestigious awards from the International Interior Design Association's Mid-Atlantic Chapter.  During the 2013 Design Awards program, FOX was recognized for their CQ Roll Call and Sapient projects.   These awards are the interior design industry's premier program that recognizes IIDA members' achievements and design innovations.

CQ Roll Call Commercial Headquarters Media

The CQ Roll Call project garnered a Bronze award in the 20K-100K Square Foot Category and the FOX team included: Jim Allegro, AIA, IIDA, LEED AP (Principal), Jennifer Jordan, IIDA (Associate), Melanie Robins, NCIDQ, Jeremy Roither, Kelly Sigmund, NCIDQ  and Andy Yeh, LEED AP (Managing Principal of Washington, DC Office).  This project was also recognized previously for receiving NAIOP's Award of Excellence in 2012.

CQ Roll Call is the premier media company that connects policy professionals and opinion leaders with the information they need to understand and influence Congress. FOX's design team used the physical space to visually represent the symbiotic relationship between the government and the people, and the influence of CQ Roll Call on both. The design inspired the 420-strong multigenerational staff with its vibrant look and the FOX team took a holistic approach to the design by incorporating consistent elements on each floor to signify a unified, fully integrated organization.

The headquarters for CQ Roll Call is a welcoming, sophisticated representation of a new era for this forward-thinking media company. The classic-modern design embodies the rich tradition of the political stage fused with the progressive nature of CQ Roll Call's staff.   This project is LEED® CI Gold Certified.

SAPIENT Commercial Headquarters Technology

SAPIENT received GOLD in the 20K-100K Square Foot Category and the FOX team included: Kelly Sigmund, NCIDQ and Andy Yeh, LEED AP (Managing Principal of Washington, DC Office). 

Sapient is a global services company that helps clients transform in the areas of business, marketing and technology. The company operates three divisions that enable clients to gain a competitive advantage and succeed in the increasingly digital world. The FOX design team provided the young, tech-savvy company with a primarily open office to complement the company's collaborative nature. To further support each division's culture and work, FOX incorporated spontaneous interaction zones complete with blackboards for brainstorming sessions. Additionally, white boards were woven into the layout at the back of the space and in individual meeting areas to further support team gatherings.

The overall design was driven by the connectivity between government services and Sapient's two other divisions. Woven into the design are unique branding elements such as the curved bands which run along the entire length of the common area, connecting the different divisions. Additional curved structures in common areas also promoted the overall design concept.
