fred's Pharmacy Launches 14th Annual Hero Hats Program

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Aug. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- This week through Sept. 12, fred's Pharmacy will launch its 14^th annual Hero Hats program to raise money for emergency responders serving local communities and, for the first time, military organizations. For a small donation, customers can show their support for local law enforcement through the purchase of a Hero Hat.

Additionally, fred's Pharmacy will donate a portion of the operating profits from its more than 650 stores on Sept. 11 to local first responders and military organizations in all of the communities that fred's services. Hero Hats, which began in 2002, is a fundraiser for local heroes across the country and commemorates the fallen heroes of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City.

"By giving back to the men and women that serve our local communities every day, we are embracing one of fred's core values," said Tracy Herr, vice president of advertising, fred's Pharmacy. "We're proud to honor and support military organizations for the first time through this program as well."

Customers who donate toward the Hero Hats program will receive discounts on everyday essentials at the time of purchase. During the Hero Hats donation period, customers can save on the following items:

For every $1 donation to the Hero Hats program, customers will receive a $1 off coupon for Clorox® Bleach.
For every $5 donation to the Hero Hats program, customers will receive a $2 off coupon for Clorox® Back-to-School Wipes.
For every $10 donation to the Hero Hats program, customers will receive a $3 off coupon for Kingsford® Charcoal.
