Free Online Book Brings America's 250 Year History to Life

Flag by Flag, New Multimedia History Book Reveals Origins of American Freedom

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C., Nov. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Author Franklin Davis announces instant access to the free online multimedia limited preview edition of his new American History and Flag History book, "Flags of Freedom-The Quest for Freedom," the first book in the three-volume narrative nonfiction series, "The Flags of Freedom Trilogy."

The free "America 250" limited preview edition of Flags of Freedom-The Quest for Freedom, begins circa 1,000 A.D. with the Raven flag of the Vikings, the first Europeans to discover and explore North America, followed 500 years later by the flags of the five eras of Discovery, Exploration, Colonization, Revolution and Founding of America. The book ends at Mount Vernon in 1799, as Founding Father George Washington passes into glory to bring this first chapter in the three-part story of American Freedom to an end at the close of the 18^th century.

The America 250 limited preview edition, created in honor of America's 250^th anniversary, features 20 of the 42 historic flags included in the full "Founders" edition of the book, from which it is excerpted. By combining historical fact with imagination, each personified flag shares their first-person 'flags-eye-witness' accounts of the real people, places, and events they witnessed, and the pivotal roles they played that led to America's independence and freedom. Unlike print history books with only text and images, the AI-enhanced videos, audio narrations, flag animations, and other interactive features, 'Brings History to Life' and gives readers a unique and fresh new perspective on America's founding history.

By contrast, over the entire series, more than 120 'Flags of Freedom' tell the larger 2,500-year story of the human quest for freedom that begins in 6^th century B.C. Athens and Rome with the 'proto-flag' symbols present at the birth of Democracy and the Republic — the first two cornerstones in the foundation of a future America's Freedom. The story of American Freedom continues 1,500-years later with the flags that led the freedom-seekers who braved the stormy Atlantic to explore and settle the New World over the 16^th and 17^thcenturies, and to eventually found America on July 4^th, 1776 in the 18^th century. The story resumes with the flags of the turbulent 19^th and 20^th centuries, and fittingly bookends at the 250^th anniversary of American Freedom on July 4^th, 2026, in the 21^st century.

"America's 250th birthday gives Americans an important opportunity to reflect and remember the people, principles, events, and sacrifices that made our freedoms possible," Davis said. "The Flags of Freedom series is based on a simple but urgent idea: for America to survive and thrive for another 250 years, every generation must be taught where our freedoms came from, why they matter, and what responsibilities every citizen shares in preserving American Freedom. This is the mission of the Flags of Freedom series."
