OKLAHOMA CITY, July 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second consecutive year, Freestyle Creative was awarded the Journal Record's Beacon Award for Charitable Influence in the small business category. The Beacon Award is given to companies for their volunteer work, donations to the community and for fostering a charitable environment in the workplace over the last year.
While the Freestyle staff works with numerous nonprofits each year, Freestyle's CEO Vahid Farzaneh and president Kelley Gann spearheaded the company's involvement with Oklahoma City's American Cancer Society by serving on the board and donating marketing initiatives to raise awareness of events and fundraising. Gann chaired the Real Men Wear Pink campaign which brought together community leaders and raised over $32,000. Other events they participated in include Relay for Life, the Cattle Baron's Ball and the Making Strides 5K.
"If I could describe Freestyle Creative in one word, it would be 'heart.' Why? Because they strive to support the heartbeat of OKC, they have a heart for serving and mentoring others and they work with an open heart to deliver the best product and customer service possible. In addition to their savvy business culture, their team has a passion for community service. I see their impact firsthand at the American Cancer Society, as they have helped us grow our volunteer base, our community presence and our brand recognition," said Lesa Foster, executive director of OKC's American Cancer Society.
In 2017, the Freestyle team volunteered over 700 hours in the community through various organizations like American Cancer Society, Sunbeam Family Services, OKC Arts Council, Infant Crisis Services, Positive Tomorrows, Rebuilding Together, Rotary Club 29, Norman Next, Big Brothers Big Sisters Taste of OKC and the OKC Museum of Art to name a few.
"Freestyle's greater purpose is to do good in our community and to contribute to Oklahoma City's growth," said Gann. "Whether the team participates in an event, we donate or raise funds, or a team member chairs a committee, we get to see the impact of these efforts in our community. Our involvement with ACS has impacted our company culture to think and give locally."
