Fringe Takes Centre Stage at MIDEM
45th MIDEM, 23-26 January 2011, Palais des Festivals, Cannes, France
MidemNet, 22-26 January 2011
PARIS, Jan. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- New talent is set to perform at the heart of MIDEM 2011 with the launch of a new Fringe performance stage inside the main MIDEM exhibition hall.
21 groups drawn from Canada, Germany, France, Austria, the United States, Russia, Spain and Britain, will perform live between January 23 and January 25, giving MIDEM delegates the opportunity to discover new 'underground' acoustic talent without having to leave MIDEM's venue, the Palais des Festivals in Cannes. All groups will appear for a second series of evening gigs at one of the three Cannes venues which are also hosting the Fringe – Morrison's Irish Pub, The Lounge and The Quay's Irish Pub.
"Following the success of the Fringe programme last year, MIDEM 2011 will provide new talent with exposure to music executives both during the day and at night. By bringing the Fringe into the Palais des Festivals, MIDEM underlines that the creation of music and the development of new talent are at the heart of what the event stands for," says Dominique Leguern, Director of MIDEM.
Digital entertainment technology leader Rovi Corporation is a partner of the Fringe event.
