After the housing market crash of 2007-2008, Monica pivoted to supporting her husband's residential contracting business.

As she became involved in the renovation process, she found herself drawn to the strategic aspects of real estate, from marketing homes to negotiating deals. She found a new passion that would lead to the founding of M2 Realty Group. Reflecting on her journey, Wason shares, "I've always believed that challenges are opportunities in disguise. With its launch in January of 2022, the real estate market was in turmoil. Interest rates, which had been in the low 3% range, quickly spiked to over 7% by October of that year, making it an incredibly difficult environment to launch a new brokerage. Monica recalls, "Many businesses were closing, and larger, established firms doubted we would make it past the first year. To make things even more challenging, my team was made up of agents who were either just starting their careers or had been labeled as "non-producers."

But despite these hurdles, we kept pushing forward. In 2024, just two years after our launch, the hard work paid off—two of our agents were recognized as "Rising Stars" by Monterey County Real Producers Magazine. This recognition is not just a testament to the success of those agents but to the resilience and determination of our entire team. What we've accomplished in such a short time is something I'm incredibly proud of, and it proves that with the right mindset, any obstacle can be overcome."
