From LAN to LLM: Intersignal Brings the LAN Party Spirit to Local AI
Folio publishing is now embedded in Braid, giving connected local AI rigs a direct path from private computation and shared context to human-directed publishing on the open web.
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- In the early 2000s, computer enthusiasts hauled towers, monitors and cables into the same room to build temporary networks more powerful—and more social—than any machine standing alone.
Two decades later, the hardware has changed. The instinct hasn't.
Intersignal today announced expanded Folio operability within the main release of Braid, its free software for connecting local AI systems across multiple machines.
The result is a new workflow for the emerging generation of AI PCs, GPU workstations and dedicated inference rigs: connect machines, move useful context between them, work with local models, and selectively publish the resulting knowledge through Folio.
From LAN to LLM, personal computing is becoming networked again.
Powerful local AI hardware is increasingly arriving in homes, studios, research environments and small offices. But owning a fast GPU or dedicated AI box raises an obvious question: what do you actually do with it?
Braid is designed to make those machines more useful together.
A user can run different models and workloads across separate computers while maintaining a shared persistent context between participating systems. Rather than treating every AI machine as an isolated endpoint, Braid turns a collection of local rigs into a coordinated environment controlled by the people operating them.
Folio now extends that environment outward.
Material developed inside Braid can be brought into a human-edited publishing workflow, reviewed, selectively included or excluded, and prepared for publication beyond the private network. The architecture keeps an important boundary intact: machines can help generate, organize and move information, while people decide what becomes public.
That combination reflects Intersignal's broader approach to AI: powerful local computation without requiring users to surrender control of their data, hardware or publishing decisions to a centralized agent.
The old LAN party connected PCs so people could play and create together.
The next one may connect AI rigs so people can think, build and publish together.
Braid is available from Intersignal.org.
