FULLSTACK MODULAR LEADS THE CHARGE IN INNOVATIVE MODULAR CONSTRUCTION FOR CAL POLY'S TRANSFORMATIVE STUDENT HOUSING PROJECT
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., Feb. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- FullStack Modular, a leader in the design, manufacture, and construction of mid- to high-rise buildings, hotels, and student housing, is proud to partner with California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) on one of the most ambitious student housing projects in California. The initiative will bring 4,200 new beds to the San Luis Obispo campus, addressing the critical need for affordable, sustainable student housing.

FullStack Modular's advanced volumetric modular construction system will manufacture units off-site in a controlled environment. This process reduces costs, construction time, and environmental impact while maintaining superior quality. The Cal Poly project marks the first large-scale use of modular construction within the California State University (CSU) system, setting a new standard for student housing nationwide.
The nine new buildings will provide suite-style living for second-year students, offering a solution that blends rapid construction with high design standards - ideal for Cal Poly's housing needs.

It's a solution that not only meets Cal Poly's needs but is transportable to other housing projects across the country."
The project also plays a critical role in addressing California's housing crisis. By using modular construction, FullStack Modular is helping Cal Poly meet the challenges of rising construction costs and the lack of affordable housing in the state.

Manufacturing on the project is set to begin in late winter 2025, with the first phase of buildings expected to be completed by Fall 2026. FullStack Modular's factory-based manufacturing process ensures the project meets its fast-paced timeline while maintaining quality control. Production for the prototype units began in the company's new Los Angeles factory last month, allowing for a quick turnaround.
The entire housing program, which includes both new modular buildings and renovations of existing halls, will be completed in phases by 2030. The first phase will accommodate second-year students, with subsequent phases expanding capacity for future enrollment growth.
The Cal Poly project is a milestone in the evolution of student housing, showcasing how modular construction can provide scalable, efficient solutions to housing challenges at universities across the U.S.
