The event is scheduled to be held on October 18, 2016.
Since its founding, Futures and Options has served more than 5,500 New York City teens and coordinated paid, mentored internships at more than 500 private and nonprofit businesses in New York City. Futures and Options gives determined, capable middle and high school students in NYC the chance to imagine, explore and realize futures and options they never envisioned, with over 95% of students graduating high school on time and going on to pursue higher education. To this end, Futures and Options partners with the business community to provide transformative work and learning opportunities to motivated young people who lack the skills, knowledge, and access needed to be prepared for and succeed in the world of work. This year alone, Futures and Options' programs will serve more than 800 kids, with over 200 businesses employing interns from over 130 schools.
"We are pleased to honor Thane Carlston and Bill Derrough, and Morgan Stanley, for their tremendous support to further our efforts to connect more of our city's youth to successful career paths," said Stephen E. Hessler, Chairman of Futures and Options' Board of Directors and a Partner in Kirkland & Ellis LLP's Restructuring Group. "Futures and Options could not accomplish our goal of empowering New York City's students without the support of our committed partners. Through that critical assistance, an increasing number of highly motivated students will have access to the tools and resources they deserve to realize their full potential."
