FYE and Garbage Pail Kids Partner for Consumables Collaboration

ALBANY, N.Y., May 13, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- FYE has joined forces with Topps, creator of the Garbage Pail Kids (GPK), to offer an exclusive line of branded cereal, chocolate bars, and energy drinks. These unique products, featuring iconic GPK characters and artwork, are available at FYE stores and fye.com. In addition to the first-ever GPK consumables offerings, the collection will include officially licensed apparel and collectibles.

"As long-time Garbage Pail Kids fans, we are excited to be bringing this pop-culture classic to our customers in new and innovative ways," says Jodie Evans, FYE's SVP of Entertainment Merchandising and Marketing. FYE stores will be adorned with custom window signage by fan-favorite GPK artist Joe Simko. "To further the interactive experience, we'll be hosting Joe at a variety of live events to autograph cereal boxes, provide GPK sketches and engage with fans."

Much effort has gone into developing the high-quality consumables line. "GPK's irreverent brand essence combined with our ability to blend food with art has created products that truly brings fun and entertainment back to retail," says Tim Lopes, FYE's DMM of Consumables.

The exclusive GPK Cereal, featuring custom art by Joe Simko, is a unique cereal blend described as "Crazy Crisps with Marshmallow Barf Bits." In a nod to its card-collecting roots, each box contains two special Topps GPK trading cards (4 cards to collect in all).

The iconic Adam Bomb character is featured throughout the line. His Cherry Bomb energy drink and popping candy-infused cherry-flavored chocolate bar give reason for his head to explode. Longtime fan favorite, Leaky Lindsay also has her own chocolate bar complete with a slimy green gooey center.

"When Topps first published the Garbage Pail Kids cards and stickers in the 80's and 90's, it spawned a worldwide collecting phenomenon," says Ira Friedman, Topps VP of Global Licensing.
