Gaining Momentum in New York City: The World Alliance of Religions' Peace Office

NEW YORK, March 3, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light's New York Branch has held its third successful Alliance of Religions Peace Office session. The representatives gathered in the city to take a pragmatic approach toward peace building. With each successive meeting, an increasing number of influential leaders are taking part of this global movement.

The Alliance of Religions Peace Office, hosted by HWPL, aims to prevent the conflicts caused by religious misunderstandings and bring forth peace by gaining deeper understandings of the standards and teachings of each religion. Presentations and discussions to propose a more effective way toward peace is the central goal of the office. Peace offices that engage the local and regional communities of all religious are arising all over the world. HWPL provides a neutral platform in which proactive religious leaders who live for peace can take active steps in the peace-making process and positively influence their congregations.

Reverend Thomas of African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church expressed his views after the meeting and stated, "I really really appreciate the opportunity that this organization [HWPL] is putting forth that we could come together and sit around the table and discuss our beliefs and yet not condemn one another, I think that's a wonderful thing." This movement for interfaith dialogue began as a continuation of the Alliance of Religions agreement signed last September during the World Alliance of Religions' Peace (WARP) Summit in Seoul South Korea.

In President Barack Obama's recent communications with United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon, there was a call to gather religious leaders in helping mitigate the recent devastation from atrocities by misrepresented religions. His most recent address to the UN General Assembly he stressed the tasks of all great religions to bring people of different faiths together to work toward peace.
