Gary M. Reiner, Former Chief Information Officer of GE, Joins General Atlantic as Special Advisor

GREENWICH, Conn., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- General Atlantic LLC ("GA"), a leading global growth equity firm, today announced that Gary M. Reiner, former Chief Information Officer of General Electric Company ("GE"), has joined the firm as a Special Advisor.  In this role, Mr. Reiner will provide strategic support to GA and its efforts in partnering with leading growth companies worldwide.  He will also serve as a director of, and offer deep operational expertise to, GA's portfolio companies.

Founded in 1980, GA has a long history of identifying, investing in and supporting growth companies in the U.S., Europe and Asia. With a target investment size of $50 million to $500 million, GA manages approximately $15 billion and invests between $1.5 billion and $2 billion per year in growth opportunities globally.

Mr. Reiner joins GA's Special Advisor network consisting of several experienced industry executives who work closely with GA's investment professionals in identifying new opportunities as well as providing strategic advice and guidance to GA and its portfolio companies.

Mr. Reiner previously served as senior vice president and Chief Information Officer of GE, where he led M&A, Sourcing, IT, Operations and Quality for the company. Prior to that, he was a partner with Boston Consulting Group, where he drove strategies and operations improvements for high-technology businesses. Mr. Reiner earned a B.A. in economics from Harvard University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
