Gas South Named 2018 IMPACT Award Winner By The Corporate Volunteer Council Of Atlanta

ATLANTA, Sept. 18, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Gas South, one of the Southeast's leading natural gas providers, has been awarded the 2018 Business-to-Business Partnership IMPACT Award from the Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) of Atlanta.

Gas South was recognized for its partnership with Cobb EMC, in which the utility providers strengthened opportunities for local students in the Atlanta community by focusing on improving education in the areas of literacy and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math).

As part of the partnership, volunteers from Gas South and Cobb EMC worked together on two different programs. The first, Literacy Week, is a program that focuses on bringing authors into 44 local schools to encourage creativity through writing and illustration. The second, the Regional Science Olympiad Tournament, focuses on STEM and teaching students how to problem solve. Together, Gas South and Cobb EMC have reached more than 24,000 students at 150 schools.

The 2018 awards were presented at the CVC's annual IMPACT Awards luncheon on September 12, and finalists included 15 Atlanta-area corporations.
