Gateway Health(SM) President and CEO Patricia Darnley Inducted Into Eberly College of Business Hall of Distinction

PITTSBURGH, April 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- On April 1, 2014, Patricia "Patti" Darnley, President and CEO of Gateway Health ^SM, was inducted into the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) Eberly College of Business Hall of Distinction.  Darnley, a 1981 graduate of IUP, was recognized for her business achievements, leadership and high level of success in business, specifically healthcare.  The induction ceremony, which was held at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex at IUP, caps the University's annual Business Day program, which is attended by over 600 students and faculty of the Eberly College of Business and Information Technology, along with IUP dignitaries and regional business leaders. Prior to her induction into the Hall of Distinction, Darnley was recognized as the Eberly Outstanding Business Professional of 2005.

Each year in April, the Eberly College inducts select alumni as new members of its Hall of Distinction.  These individuals are lauded for their commitment to professional excellence, their status as role models within the business community and their ongoing support of IUP.   Nominations were taken in January and February and inductees were selected for inclusion in March. 

Darnley joined Gateway as President and CEO in January 2014, continuing a successful tenure as an accomplished healthcare professional that has held executive positions with Centene Corporation, UPMC Heath Plan and Highmark.   At Gateway, Darnley is responsible for developing and leading the strategy behind the health plan's expansion as Medicare Advantage plans stand poised for explosive growth and Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) need to find new and better ways to reach the growing number of individuals using their services.  Darnley received a B.S. in Accounting from IUP, as well as an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Duquesne University.

As one of the newest of inductees of the Hall of Distinction, Darnley joins just over two dozen Eberly Business Hall of Distinction honorees from more than 25,000 Eberly College alumni.  In addition to her biography appearing on the website, her portrait and accomplishments will be displayed in the Hall of Distinction Gallery on the IUP campus.
