ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), the voice of the business travel industry, today announced Seth Meyers, "Saturday Night Live" star, head writer and anchor of the satirical news segment, "Weekend Update," will be a featured speaker at the 2012 GBTA Convention in Boston. Massachusetts. He will be speaking during the Monday, July 23rd General Session Luncheon, sponsored by Sabre Travel Network, Get There & Travelocity Business.
"We are thrilled to announce Seth Meyers as a speaker during Convention. His quick wit, sharp mind and comedic pulse will bring an entertaining start to Convention," said Michael W. McCormick, Executive Director and COO of GBTA. "Seth's speech will be a perfect balance to our other two keynote speakers, former Presidents Bush and Clinton."
Late night comedy star Seth Meyers is in his eleventh season on "Saturday Night Live," his sixth season as head writer, and his sixth season as anchor of "Weekend Update." As the sole "Weekend Update" anchor, Meyers charms audiences as he lampoons top news stories and entertains fan favorite guests including the outlandish and uber trendy correspondent "Stefon" as well as the perpetually ill-prepared singing duo "Garth and Kat." Before focusing his attention solely on "Update," Meyers was a regular player in sketches, performing numerous characters. Seth Meyers was also a speaker at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner in 2011.
A graduate of Northwestern University, he studied and performed at ImprovOlympic before moving on to the Boom Chicago Theater in Amsterdam, Holland. His acclaimed show "Pick-ups and Hiccups" with partner Jill Benjamin toured Europe and eventually caught the eye of "SNL."
