The educational series includes four events that will be held throughout the year featuring crafts, native cuisine and entertainment inspired by a specific country. The first event was held on February 15 and featured Japan. The next three events are scheduled as follows: May 3, which will showcase Egypt; August 9, which will feature France; and November 15, which will showcase Russia.
As part of the program, attendees can purchase World Trekkers passports with a personalized photo, get a sticker for passing through each country featured in the series, and earn stamps for completing crafts.
"We're excited to work with the Houston Museum of Natural Science to bring educational programs like this to the community," said Sam Henry, CEO at GDF SUEZ Energy Resources. "Underwriting World Trekkers is a natural fit for us - especially given the global nature of our parent company GDF SUEZ - and it adds a new dimension to our ongoing commitment to being a knowledge leader in the energy industry."
"We're honored to have the support of GDF SUEZ Energy Resources, both as a retail electricity provider and as a sponsor of our World Trekkers educational program," said Latha Thomas, VP of Marketing and Communications at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. "We had a great turnout at our first event in February, and - with the help of GDF SUEZ Energy Resources - we're looking forward to sharing even more cultural insights from unique countries around the world with children, families and museum guests as we continue the program throughout the year."
