General Atlantic Announces Promotions

GREENWICH, Conn., Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- General Atlantic LLC (GA), a leading global growth equity firm, today announced the promotions of Jing Hong to managing director and Ke Wei and Joern Nikolay to principal. Ms. Hong is based in China and leads GA's global Emerging Markets Consumer sector. Mr. Wei and Mr. Nikolay are senior professionals in the firm's Beijing and London offices respectively.

Prior to joining GA in 2008, Ms. Hong worked at Warburg Pincus, focusing on growth investments in consumer goods, retail and financial service sectors.  Previously, she was an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company where she served a number of Chinese and multinational companies. She received a B.S. in Finance and a Masters in Management Engineering from Tsinghua University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Prior to joining GA, Mr. Wei was a principal at Actis, an emerging market private equity firm, where he focused on the consumer, retail and healthcare sectors. Previously, he worked at BCG and spent the majority of his time in consumer goods and retail areas. Mr. Wei also had seven years working experience at China Daily, where he was a deputy division head to manage the operation of a business newspaper. Mr. Wei received an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from the University of Science & Technology, Beijing.

Prior to joining General Atlantic in 2008, Mr. Nikolay worked for TA Associates in London focusing on investments in the financial services and consumer internet space. Before TA Associates, Mr. Nikolay was a case team leader with Bain & Company in Dusseldorf. He is a graduate of WHU - Otto-Beisheim Graduate School of Management, and also studied at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques, Scienes Po, in Paris.
