SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- General Dynamics C4 Systems has delivered the 4000th Sectera® vIPer™ Universal Secure Phone to the U.S. Department of State. Part of the General Dynamics cyber-defense product family, the vIPer secure phones are replacing outdated Secure Terminal Equipment (STE) phones currently in service with the department. The vIPer Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone modernizes and secures voice and data communications from the Top Secret-level and below for U.S. government personnel located in the U.S. and internationally. General Dynamics delivered the first Sectera vIPer Universal Secure Phone to the department in 2007.
"The vIPer phones are easy-to-use and deliver secure voice and data connectivity, with unprecedented dependability, for department personnel worldwide," said Chris Marzilli, president of General Dynamics C4 Systems. "With a touch of a button, calls can transition from unencrypted to encrypted and secure, immediately 'hardening' the communications network from a call's origin to its destination, from one office to another, or across continents."
The Sectera vIPer Universal Secure Phones deliver secure voice and data connectivity from the Top Secret/SCI level and below and work on legacy, public switched telephone networks (PSTN) and IP networks including satellite communication systems. The vIPer secure phones are interoperable with all U.S. government secure phones, U.S. Department of Defense networks and commercial VoIP phones. They integrate easily into a communications network, and can go from the factory box to a fully functional phone in less than two minutes. The vIPer secure phones also offer additional features that help personnel work more efficiently, including caller ID and individual phone-call history.
Active U.S. government and military personnel interested in cost-effectively modernizing and defending their communication networks are invited to the General Dynamics Secure Products Workshop and Training Day, May 20, 2014.
