Generation Technologies Announces Contract Renewal For Cloud Based Content Distribution
Three-year agreement utilizes the NIMxchange® cloud based content distribution network
OVERLAND PARK, Kan., May 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Generation Technologies Corporation (GTC) announced today that CBS has renewed its content distribution agreement for another three years. "We are proud to continue our 34 year relationship with CBS," said David Cunningham, President of GTC.
GTC founded broadcast newsroom computer technology in the 1970's and today is the leader in the distribution of fast breaking television news and sports. Its cloud-based NIMxchange product allows producers and editors to simply drag and drop high quality "for air" clips to or from their television network and sister stations. NIMxchange automatically normalizes, cross-converts and down-converts all video into industry standard h.264 and MPEG-2 formats in both NTSC and PAL. "Our users can upload video to their networks when a breaking local story goes national just as easily as they can download content for local air in their native definition and compression formats," says Scott McLewin, Director of Development. "By migrating from satellite technology to our fully hosted cloud based services, everyone's workflow is simplified and station costs are dramatically reduced."
Television content distribution technology has matured to the point where broadcasters expect and demand that high performance web based services do all their heavy lifting," says Cunningham. Today, broadcasters want return without investment, not return on investment, and NIMxchange is leading the way."
