Genesis HealthCare Announces Development of New Post-Acute Care Facility

KENNETT SQUARE, Pa., Nov. 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Genesis HealthCare, a leading provider of short-term post-acute, rehabilitation and skilled nursing care services, today announced it will operate a new 124-bed post-acute care facility in Voorhees, NJ. The new state-of-the-art facility will be financed by Health Care REIT, Inc., a real estate investment trust that acquired substantially all of the real estate assets of Genesis HealthCare in February 2011.  The project was designed by and will be built by Burris Construction Company of Moorestown, NJ.

The facility, which will be dedicated to post-hospital short-stay rehabilitation and nursing care, will be located on Route 73, adjacent to the recently opened hospital, Virtua Voorhees. Construction of the facility began in November 2011 and could open as early as late 2012.  The facility is designed to focus on activity and patient engagement in rehabilitation, including hydrotherapy, and will include all private rooms and hotel-like services.
