Genesys Works - Bay Area Adds Three Respected Leaders to its Local Board of Directors
Laura Moran, Chief of Staff, San Francisco Unified School District; Ray Elias, General Manager, StubHub; and Erin Glenn, CFO, KIXEYE have joined the board
SAN FRANCISCO, April 2, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Genesys Works - Bay Area (GWBA), the San Francisco-based office of national non-profit Genesys Works, announced today the addition of three local leaders to its Board of Directors. GWBA helps underserved teens in the Bay Area break the cycle of poverty by helping them get on a professional career and college track through real-world skills training, followed by a 12-month paid internship during their senior year of high school.
Laura Moran, Chief of Staff, San Francisco Unified School District
Ms. Moran brings 30 years of private and public sector experience to her role of Chief of Staff for the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). She has been instrumental in guiding the District's implementation of its ambitious strategic plan to close the opportunity gap, and ensuring all 55,000 SFUSD students graduate with the 21st century skills they need to be college and career ready. Prior to her role with SFUSD she served as the Chief Services Officer for Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) and played a key role in strategy development, fundraising and implementation to help OUSD become the "most improved large urban school district" for over six years. Ms. Moran was also a Program Manager for the Stupski Family Foundation and led the organization development function for the District Alliance Program. Before transitioning to K-12 education reform, Ms. Moran served as the Vice President for Organizational Development at Charles Schwab & Co. Inc. and Regional Director/Associate Partner for Interaction Associations. Ms. Moran holds a Bachelor of Science in Organization Behavior from University of San Francisco, and resides in San Francisco.
Ray Elias, General Manager, StubHub
Mr. Elias joined StubHub in 2004, and has more than 15 years of e-commerce and marketing experience. Formerly CMO, Mr. Elias is now overseeing a new business unit responsible for growing StubHub's social commerce, content and advertising. Over his tenure, StubHub has grown from a small start-up, to a leading consumer brand in live entertainment and e-commerce. Mr. Elias also played a key role in eBay's acquisition of StubHub in 2007. Prior to joining StubHub, he developed and led search marketing at Esurance, which was acquired by Allstate in 2011. He began his career in the late nineties with early stage Internet start-ups in the action sports and health and fitness verticals. Mr. Elias was named "40 Under 40" by Sports Business Journal in 2013. Mr. Elias is passionate about sports, youth development, workforce development, and interventions that change life trajectories. Mr. Elias earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. He resides in Walnut Creek with his wife and son. In addition to GWBA, Mr. Elias is currently an advisory board member for ModCloth.com.
Erin Glenn – Chief Financial Officer, KIXEYE
Ms. Glenn has been the CFO of KIXEYE Inc. for four years. Founded in 2007, KIXEYE is a rapidly growing mid-core online game developer. Backed by Trinity, JAFCO and Lightspeed, their strategy and combat games have over 5 million monthly active users. Prior to KIXEYE, Ms. Glenn spent eight years with LEGC, a publicly traded global consulting firm that specialized in economic, litigation, antitrust, intellectual property, and finance consulting. She held various director level positions, including FAS finance & operations, treasury & finance, capitol allocation, and investor relations. She also worked at Morgan Stanley, UBS Investment Bank, and the Hay Group (in Singapore and Bangkok). Throughout her career, she has leveraged her expertise to help companies grow and scale rapidly. She is also passionate about engaging more girls into math, science and technology. Ms. Glenn is a graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and Public Policy Institute. She had an internship for the Washington Bureau Chief of The Times London, as well as an internship with Senator David L. Boren. She also spent a semester abroad at Universite Catholique de Louvain (Belgium). She currently resides in San Francisco.
Genesys Works - Bay Area Board of Directors
The local office of Genesys Works began operation in early 2013 and has recently kicked off its second year program. The three new directors join founding board members Rafael Alvarez – Founder and CEO, Genesys Works; Marc Blakeman – Regional Vice President, AT&T California; Adrian Fenty – former Mayor of Washington, D.C.; Casey Johnson – Executive Director, GreenLight Fund Bay Area; Dave Kanter – Managing Director, Accenture; Peter Katz – Executive Director, Genesys Works – Bay Area; Scott Kupor – Managing Partner, Andreessen Horowitz; and Jesus Soto – Senior Vice President, PG&E.
