George Blaha And Frank Beckmann Headline VIP Mentoring's Coaches For Kids Maize 'N' Green Tailgate Fundraiser At Ford Field Monday, October 2, 2017 Beginning At 5:30pm

DETROIT, Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Michigan State University football play-by-play announcer George Blaha and former University of Michigan football play-by-play announcer Frank Beckmann will provide guests with an inside look at their experiences as announcers of "maize" and "green" football at the Coaches for Kids Maize 'N' Green Tailgate at Ford Field in Detroit on Monday, October 2, 2017 beginning at 5:30pm.  

Beckmann and Blaha will be on hand to dine and mingle with guests, and will also provide insight and share football stories during a special speaking segment featuring the two broadcasters.  Following the speaking program, Blaha and Beckmann, along with former MSU football star Andre Rison, former U of M football star Marcus Ray, and VIP Mentoring board member Jim Comer, will be inducted into VIP Mentoring's "Hall of Fame" in recognition of their support and contributions to the event and to the metropolitan Detroit community. 

Former MSU head football coach George Perles, Detroit Lions legend Lem Barney, and various U of M and MSU alumni football players, including Michigan's Jamie Morris, will also be present.  As is tradition, the event's "maize" and "green" football tailgate format will include introductions of the alumni football players, live and silent auctions, and a photo station.  Former Miss Michigan United States Da'Stanza Murphy will serve as the master of ceremonies and will entertain with a vocal performance. The event also celebrates mentoring and coaching. 

The event's Presenting Sponsor is Lear Corporation, and other major sponsors include Ford Motor Company Fund, Gill Industries, and other businesses. This is the sixth year of the event, with the dollars raised going directly to the VIP Mentoring program. VIP Mentoring, which is in its 37^th year, provides mentors and programs for at-risk youth in Detroit.

VIP Mentoring is a Detroit-based nonprofit organization with a mission to create sustainable, meaningful mentoring relationships for children in Michigan, especially the city of Detroit, where challenging circumstances seriously compromise opportunities to succeed.
