Georges Duboeuf and Artist Kaves Unveil 2011 Nouveau Label

NEW YORK, Oct. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- It's a bold new pairing for Beaujolais. French wine producer Georges Duboeuf has collaborated with renowned Brooklyn artist Michael McLeer, a.k.a. Kaves, to create Nouveau Expression, a celebration of creativity, self expression and enjoying the moment, to coincide with Duboeuf's release of the 2011 Beaujolais Nouveau.

A multi-talented artist specializing in graffiti, tattoo, music and film, Kaves designed a unique, graffiti-inspired urban celebration for the 2011 label. The Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau will be officially uncorked at one minute past midnight on Thursday, November 17, at a party in New York hosted by Kaves, Les Vins Georges Duboeuf Co-Proprietor Franck Duboeuf and Importer Peter Deutsch, CEO of W.J. Deutsch & Sons. Around the country, similar Nouveau Expression parties and celebrations will take place on the third Thursday in November when, by French law, Beaujolais Nouveau may officially be released.

Kaves is also leading a search for creative individuals to share their talents through the Nouveau Expression - Be Heard online art contest. The works of ten finalists will be exhibited at the Nouveau Expression Art Exhibit and uncorking party in New York. Submissions are accepted until October 15 on Georges Duboeuf's Facebook fan page.

So what inspired the young artist from Brooklyn?

"I wanted to create a celebration in a neighborhood that could be anywhere in the world with bright energy and a positive vibe," said Kaves. "The corner of LIVE and LOVE is where I want to be. It's a place where people live in the moment and love life. Beaujolais Nouveau is a celebration of friends and wine. My painting is a celebration of life. The two are a perfect pair."

And what inspired the soft-spoken French wine producer from Beaujolais to select a street-smart graffiti artist to be his creative muse for Nouveau Expression?

"We wanted to expose people to the celebration of Nouveau and capture the wine's essence and the energy and unique perspective of Kaves' art seemed to be an ideal vehicle," said Franck Duboeuf, Georges' son and co-proprietor of Les Vins Georges Duboeuf. "Art in any medium is a passion for my father, Georges. And Kaves, like Georges, is a down-to-earth guy who loves life, is proud of where he is from and is a man of many creative expressions."

Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau is a fresh and fruity red wine made from the local Gamay grape, best served lightly chilled. Nouveau is a very popular wine for serving during the holidays; its ripe berry aromas and flavors are food-friendly and versatile with many dishes. The 2011 vintage retails for $10 a bottle.
