Become a certified scare master of fear in KC's best scream-making haunts
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Scaring is an art — and in Kansas City's West Bottoms, it's a legacy. That's why the team behind the city's legendary haunted attractions is launching Full Moon Monster Training, a high-energy, quick-learn training ground for scare actors ready to thrill. Designed by Full Moon Productions, operators of the nation's longest-running commercial haunt, the program certifies performers who can rise to the occasion and master the craft of timing and fun. This isn't just a seasonal gig. Certification is a rite of passage into the scream-worthy elite of thrill-seeking entertainment and get paid to do it.
Those who dare can apply in person at the Beast, Monday through Friday, to join the scream team behind Beast, Edge of Hell, and Macabre Cinema, Kansas City's most iconic haunted attractions, and earn the honor of being trained and certified by the nation's leading haunt authority. The 2025 haunt season kicks off Friday, September 12, in the Historic West Bottoms, just off the legendary 12th Street Bridge downtown.
"Monster Training is all about turning scaring talent into show-ready performance," said Amber Arnett-Bequeaith, Queen of Haunts and longtime vice president of the attractions. "Our scarecast learns how to channel the joy of scaring into proven techniques that get the biggest screams — and the most laughter. Our shows offer frighteningly good times for guests and our scare-inducing team."
Applicants will be trained and paid to haunt, honing skills in scare tactics, improv, physical performance, and the psychology of fear. Full Moon Monster Training ensures every monster on the cast is fully prepared to deliver screams, chills, and unforgettable moments the right way for its short 21-night season.
Not everyone's cut out to be a monster, but there's still a way to be part of the fright-filled fun. The haunts are also hiring for key support roles, including:
- Customer service and ticketing
- Parking lot attendants and security
- Concessions and merchandise
- Tech and art scene support

"These attractions might be haunted, sure—but give me living, breathing scarecast members on open nights," said Amber Arnett-Bequeaith, Queen of Haunts.
