GHX Honors Materials Managers for Their Outstanding Contributions to Healthcare

GHX called on its community to nominate individuals who are passionate about their work and have gone the extra mile to improve the operational and financial performance of their supply chains. In recognition of their achievements, those selected will each receive free registration to the 2013 Healthcare Supply Chain Summit by GHX, the largest event for supply chain leaders, exclusively for the healthcare industry.

The 2012 GHX Materials Managers of the Week are:

• Week of October 1: Richard Killeen from Hackensack University Medical Center who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to help automate HUMC's procurement processes and minimize the number of touch points required to process a purchase order. These efforts led to $41 million in documented savings in 2011 from streamlining purchasing processes and improving business decisions.
• Week of October 8: Nate Mickish from Alegent Creighton Health who is driving healthcare toward smarter purchasing decisions by working with GHX to improve the quality of and visibility into his organization's procurement data. Nate and his team are leveraging this rich data source to engage physicians in contracting initiatives by demonstrating Alegent Creighton Health's purchasing patterns and identifying ways to save money while maintaining a high quality of patient care.
• Week of October 15: Dena Jackson of Anne Arundel Medical Center who has worked with her team to help automate AAMC's previously manual procure-to-pay process for enhanced efficiency, improved accuracy and better visibility into critical data. Just six months after joining the GHX Exchange, AAMC ramped up its electronic transactions, increasing its supplier trading partners to 267 and the number of dollars transacted through GHX to more than $3.1 million.
• Week of October 22: Kenyetta Keyes from Doctor's Community Hospital who has assembled a top-rate materials management team backed by process automation, technology and data visibility. Using GHX CCXpert, they have realized close to $100,000 in hard dollar savings in just two months by helping to ensure that they are paying the negotiated price for items on contract.
• Week of October 29: Franco Sagliocca from New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) who has been described as an "out of the box" thinker challenging everyone around him to exceed expectations. By leveraging the GHX Procurement Suite and NuVia^(SM) solutions to build a virtual item master, gain near real-time access to contract pricing and help confirm that it is purchasing the right products at the right price, HHC has cut costs, improved operational performance and is projected to achieve $14 million in annual savings.
