Gigwalk Launches Android App; Hits Key Milestone in Building World's Largest Mobile Workforce

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Gigwalk, the largest on-demand mobile workforce, today announced the launch of its Android app in North America and the United Kingdom. The app makes Gigwalk the first mobile-centric marketplace for temporary work to have both an iPhone and Android app. The Android app is expected to double Gigwalk's current user base of over 325,000 workers. Today's launch comes on the heels of the company's 300 percent year-over-year revenue surge reached in June. The demand for Gigwalk now spans Fortune 1000 customers including Reckitt Benckiser, BMW, 7-Eleven, eBay, AIG, Chartis, and thousands of others.

The latest comScore report revealed that 52 percent of U.S. smartphone consumers own Android devices vs. 39.9 percent who own iPhones. Gigwalk's new Android app gives their enterprise customers access to a wider pool of talent, further ensuring that the best worker is matched to the right Gig each time. This broader user base also expands Gigwalk's coverage in areas that have heavier Android usage and ensures that Gigs can be executed even faster.

The app's functionality is similar to the iPhone app. For Gigwalkers, they log onto the app and instantly see available Gigs in their area. Once they begin working on Gigs, the app tracks completed and pending Gigs. For businesses, the app connects into Gigwalk's back-end engine that intelligently matches the best worker with each Gig.  Businesses can also access Gigwalk's advanced reporting dashboard that allows them to view real-time metrics and insights on every job execution.

Businesses post Gigs such as store audits, retail merchandising, field photography, in-store demos, stockroom work, customer surveys and much more through Gigwalk.com. These are instantly delivered to users' phones through the iPhone and Android apps, where users can earn money by completing the Gigs. Gigwalkers earn an average of $12 to $15 per hour.
