Girls on European Road Trip Say No to False Advertising

As a response to hollow marketing, false claims and empty promises companies use to sell as many products as possible, two girls from The Netherlands and Portugal are taking a European road trip to seek real stores and companies with real people and real values.

With their Say Yes To Summer Tour they have started a consumer driven Occupy-like movement that wants to put a stop to false advertising and marketing which allows big companies to dominate the market. "Their massive collaborations make it impossible for smaller family companies who stayed true to their values to be heard," the girls Sara and Pam state. "It's not about the passion anymore, nor about the love for the product and the people. The last decades the world has become a strange and plastic reality. Advertising, marketing and social media all have become common tools for companies to sell as many products as possible, whatever it takes."

The girls met each other in Barcelona. They got the idea for the road trip during a brainstorm session for Say Yes To No. This new breadchip from Dutch family bakery Van der Meulen wants to put a stop to slippery marketing and empty promises like "light" or false health claims, aiming for a different, honest attitude to consumers.

Sara and Pam: "During the brainstorm we realised that more than just sharing the product, we wanted to show and share what we stand for. No false promises, no fake colours, no advertising lies, no artificial taste and no photoshopping. And we believe these ideals don't just stand for food, they can also be applied in other moments. So we decided to go on a road trip where we say yes to real experiences, real stories, real people and real values."

Driving a Volkswagen camper, the girls started their tour in Amsterdam, where they opened the first of seven flagship stores. Say Yes To No considers them friendship stores and supplies them with free breadchips. Next stop for the girls is Berlin, followed by Paris, Antwerp and London. The last stop of the tour is in the backyard of Alex James, where he and his best friend Jamie Oliver will welcome 60,000 people during the Big Feastival at the end of August.
