Giving Fleet Operators Clarity When They Need It Most

MiX Telematics, a leading global provider of fleet and mobile asset management solutions delivered as software-as-a-service or SaaS, commences the international roll-out of MiX Vision - a highly configurable video recording system that integrates with MiX Telematics' flagship fleet management solution comprising FM-Web, and the FM Communicator.

MiX Vision consists of a tamper-resistant camera unit that is attached to the inside of the vehicle's windscreen and houses two cameras: one road-facing and one driver-facing. This integrates with the FM Communicator so that when an event occurs - such as harsh braking, over-speeding or a collision - the system triggers the automatic upload of two 15-second low-resolution video clips, one showing the driver and one showing the road.

Fleet managers have access to all footage at the end of each completed trip and high-resolution versions of the clips are available at the touch of button. Customers can also choose to download segments of high-resolution video clips recorded on a 72-hour rolling buffer.

"Notably, the event triggers are highly configurable, which means that our customers have the freedom to predetermine any driving event for which they would like to record video footage," says Tasker.

As well as assisting operators to reduce costs, MiX Vision helps to protect drivers in cases where they were not at fault. The footage can also be leveraged for driver training initiatives.
