Global Cloud Xchange Appoints Mark Simpson as President of North America

DENVER, Aug. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Cloud Xchange (GCX) today announced the appointment of Mark Simpson as President of North America. 

Mr. Simpson joins the company with more than 25 years of telecom experience, most recently as CEO of SEACOM Ltd. where he was instrumental in transitioning the company into a profitable organization serving many markets in Africa and international operators.  Prior to SEACOM, Mr. Simpson was President and CEO of Pacific Crossing where he completed the sale of the company to NTT Communications and remained in the role during a one-year transition to maintain the company's strong financial performance post-acquisition.

With an extensive international background, Mr. Simpson previously served as Chief Operating Officer of Pacnet and was with the company since its transition from Asia Netcom and earlier Asia Global Crossing.  During his interval stints with the company, Mr. Simpson led global sales and country management in addition to having responsibility for product and business development incorporating market development, cable system investment and M&A activities. Under his leadership, the company achieved record sales results and was recognized internationally for its performance and product innovation.  Mr. Simpson also initiated the new Unity trans-Pacific cable project and was involved in the acquisition of the Pacific Internet business.  Other roles he held at the company since 2001 include CTO, CIO and Head of Customer Service. 

Mr. Simpson also served as CEO of C2C Pte. Ltd. where he led the company's financial and operational rehabilitation, enabling it to re-enter the market as a major supplier of broadband capacity after an absence of almost three years.  C2C later merged with Pacnet.
