Global Corporate Running Event Debuts in São Paulo
Over 50 of the City's biggest firms set to compete in the globally renowned corporate relay race on October 18, 2017
Proceeds from race will support Ibirapuera Park conservation
NEW YORK and SÃO PAULO, June 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Square Mile Sport, in conjunction with Bloomberg, today announced the launch of the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay São Paulo, the 10th city globally to participate in the corporate relay series. The São Paulo race will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.
The one-of-a-kind, immersive team building experience is set to feature more than 50 teams from the city's leading business and financial institutions who will compete to win the coveted trophies and bragging rights as the fastest business in the city. Each team will be made up of 10 co-workers, each of whom will run a unique one-mile course around Parque do Povo in central São Paulo. The race culminates with a celebratory 'After-Party' where runners will be treated to a live DJ set and complimentary food and drinks in the Race Village.
Promoting team building, a healthy work-life balance, and a sense of camaraderie among colleagues, the annual sporting event started in the City of London in 2007. It has expanded to Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Dubai, Sydney, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo, with more than 100 teams consisting of 1,000 runners entering the relay race at each location every year.

Ibirapuera Park is São Paulo's largest urban park, receiving approximately 220,000 visitors a week. Parque Ibirapuera Conservação is the non-profit organization dedicated to conserving and protecting it to ensure it is clean, safe, beautiful and accessible to everyone.
The organization will be presented with a donation at the end of the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay event. The runners also will be invited to join Bloomberg employees, friends and family to participate in a special Bloomberg Square Mile Relay conservation service project in the park.
Giving back is an important element of the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay globally, as over 7,500 runners across 10 cites have made a positive impact, reinforcing Bloomberg's long-standing commitment to strengthening and improving lives in the communities where people live and work.
São Paulo will be the eighth stop in the 10 races of the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay annual Global Series, which is celebrating its 11th year.

About Bloomberg Square Mile Relay São Paulo:
Registration for the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay is now live on the event website at www.squaremilerelay.com/sao-paulo. Early Bird entry for a team of ten runners is R$3,350+tax. Only one representative from the participating corporation will need to register and pay on behalf of the team. Rates include entry to the after-race party that includes hospitality with food, drinks and entertainment for all runners.
