On September 3, the 2026 SIAL West Asia International Food Exhibition (Guangzhou) opened at the Guangzhou Poly World Trade Center Expo. Co-organized by Comexposium, Beijing Aibo SIAL Exhibition Co., Ltd., Guangzhou International Convention & Exhibition Group, and Beijing SIAL Exhibition Co., Ltd., the event is positioned as the "First Stop for Entering the Bay Area and Going Global." Spanning 60,000 sqm, it brings together over 1,500 premium exhibitors from China and abroad. The opening day saw packed halls and vibrant business exchanges, fully reflecting the Greater Bay Area's strength as a premier commercial hub.

As a flagship event under Guangdong's "Trade Nationwide" and "Trade Global" initiatives, the exhibition features 14 specialized zones covering imported foods, snacks, dairy, premium beverages, seasonings, and fresh products. The opening ceremony was attended by diplomatic envoys, government representatives, and industry leaders. Leveraging Guangzhou's strategic position, the event offers an effective platform for global F&B brands to access South China and expand into ASEAN.

International pavilions drew significant attention. Thailand presented tropical dried fruits, seasonings, and low-sugar products; Georgia showcased wines and specialty beverages; Jordan highlighted origin-based agricultural and artisanal goods; and Vietnam featured instant noodles with on-site tastings. Pavilions from Malaysia, Indonesia, the UAE, Cyprus, Sri Lanka, and New Zealand, along with independent exhibitors from South Korea, the U.S., Ecuador, Pakistan, Spain, Japan, and Germany, formed an international presence spanning Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and Oceania.

Professional buyers packed the pavilions on opening day. One supermarket purchasing manager noted: "The international pavilions here are exceptionally well-represented—we can compare products and supply chains across regions in one stop."

The upgraded "Match Me" service facilitated efficient deal-making through data-driven pre-matching. Vietnam's instant noodles attracted multiple supermarket and e-commerce buyers; Jordan's premium chocolates gained favor with high-end purchasers; and Georgia's wines drew keen distributor interest. The efficient atmosphere—where buyers arrived with specific needs and left with concrete prospects—prevailed throughout the day.

The Greater Bay Area, with over 70 million consumers and robust cold-chain and customs infrastructure, serves as both a gateway for overseas brands entering China and a launchpad for Chinese companies expanding into Southeast Asia.

The exhibition runs through September 5. The next edition in Shanghai will take place on May 18–20, 2027, at the Shanghai New International Expo Center.
