Global Impact Launches Relief and Development Accelerator Fund at 2011 Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting

Fund to Combine Public and Private Partners for Global Humanitarian Programs

ALEXANDRIA, Va., Sept. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Global Impact, whose mission is to assure help for the world's most vulnerable people, announced today the launch of the Relief and Development Accelerator Fund, a new matching fund to advance giving and awareness for worldwide health programs.  

The commitment was announced at the 2011 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting. Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) convenes global leaders to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world's most pressing challenges. The CGI Annual Meeting is held each September in New York City.

The Relief and Development Accelerator Fund is a new initiative that will support Global Impact's alliance of 58 U.S.-based international charities. Global Impact charities must meet established criteria to be eligible to compete for the $1.2 million and must report regularly on the measured success of the programs funded. The competitive funding process is open to all charity partners who meet established criteria by January 2012.
