Global Medical Knowledge 2020 Update: MerckManuals.com Becomes Most Widely Translated, Free Medical Resource
Launch of 10th language marks milestone in initiative to provide greater access to accurate medical information for consumers and professionals around the world
KENILWORTH, N.J., Feb. 3, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Merck Manuals (called MSD Manuals outside of the United States and Canada), one of the world's most widely used medical resources since 1899, today announced the availability of its medical content in 10 languages at MerckManuals.com (MSDManuals.com).
In 2015, The Manuals announced the launch of Global Medical Knowledge 2020 – a worldwide initiative to make the best current medical information accessible to nearly three billion consumers and health care professionals by 2020. To fulfill its mission, the robust medical content continually updated by 350 medical experts was made available for free at MerckManuals.com and professionally translated into nine additional languages, making The Manuals available in the following languages:

The Manuals' editorial team plans to launch additional languages through 2020 to continue to break down language barriers and increase worldwide access to trusted, up-to-date medical information.
"We're invigorated by the progress we've made less than two years since the launch of Global Medical Knowledge 2020 at MerckManuals.com," said Robert S. Porter, M.D., Merck Manuals Editor-in-Chief. "In today's digital age, medical information is more accessible than ever around the world, but much of that information isn't coming from trusted, reliable sources. We're proud of the progress we've made in bringing accurate and credible medical information to ten languages, and we're hard at work adding new features and partnerships to expand our reach even further."
To extend access across devices, this year The Manuals launched new Consumer and Professional mobile apps, providing free access to thousands of in-depth articles, videos, animations and other resources. The apps are free of advertisements and do not require users to register or share personal information, removing many of the barriers that prohibit individuals from accessing the content they need to make informed personal health decisions.
The Manuals continues to partner with libraries, corporations, Electronic Health Record (EHR) companies, and advocacy groups around the world to break down obstacles to access.
