The report predicts the global sulfur fertilizer to grow with a CAGR of 2.6% over the forecast period of 2018-2024. The study on sulfur fertilizer covers the analysis of the leading geographies such as North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and RoW for the period of 2016 to 2024.
Sulfur fertilizer plays several important function in plant such as- it helps to the formation of chlorophyll that permits photosynthesis through which plants produce starch, sugars, oils, fats, vitamins and other compounds, also it helps in synthesis in oil. Additionally, it is useful in the activation of enzymes, which aid in biochemical reactions in the plant. It increases crop yields and improves produce quality, both of which determine the market price a farmer would get for his produce. It improves protein and oil percentage in seeds, cereal quality for milling and baking, marketability of dry coconut kernel (copra), quality of tobacco, nutritive value of forages, etc. Increase in the trend of organic food consumption, depressed commodity prices, regulated pricing policy and lower farm income are the major restraints for this market.
On the basis of region, the Global sulfur fertilizer market is segmented into North America, Europe, Asia, and the Rest of the World (RoW). Asia-Pacific dominates the global sulfur fertilizer market. The market in the Asia Pacific region is driven by growing application of sulfur fertilizer for better quality farm produce, growing awareness about benefits of sulfur fertilizer among farmers, and impetus by the several governments for the application of sulfur fertilizer with nitrogen and potassium.
ADNOC and OCP Broaden Their Partnership and Intend to Develop a Global World-Class Fertilizers Joint Venture
In May 2018, The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and OCP Group of Morocco (OCP) entered in an agreement to explore the phased creation of a new global fertilizers joint venture, in a move that would accelerate the execution of both ADNOC and OCP's international strategies. The proposed joint venture will be build on both companies' competitive advantages, namely ADNOC's world-scale sulfur production, ammonia and gas expertise, and shipping and logistics network, and OCP's access to large phosphate resources, its century-long fertilizers know-how and its marketing network, to develop a new global fertilizers producer. FACT ties up with Kochi refinery for sulfur supply
In October,2017, Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) has reached an agreement with Bharat Petroleum Corporation's Kochi refinery for supply of sulphur, a key raw material for the fertilizer company. FACT stood to gain substantially from the agreement for supply of the raw material from the neighbouring refinery. As per the agreement, the Kochi refinery will provide around 1,20,000 tonnes of sulphur per year. This is about 60% of the total sulphur requirement of FACT. It was expected that the refinery would be able to fully meet the sulphur requirement of FACT with the commissioning of the expanded refinery.
