Global X Names ETF Industry Veteran Jon Maier Chief Investment Officer

NEW YORK, June 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Global X Management Company LLC (Global X), the New York-based provider of exchange-traded funds (ETFs), today announced the appointment of Jon Maier as Chief Investment Officer. In his new role, Mr. Maier will focus on shaping the firm's market outlook, helping build model portfolios, developing ETF products and crafting the firm's investment strategy. Mr. Maier reports directly to Bruno del Ama, Global X's CEO.

Mr. Maier joins Global X from Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, where he was the Senior Portfolio Manager for their ETF Model Portfolio business within their CIO Office. As a member of Merrill Lynch's CIO Portfolio Construction & Management Team, he had responsibility for many portfolios including multi-asset and single asset strategies during his long tenure at the firm.

Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Mr. Maier held positions with UBS and its predecessor firm, PaineWebber. Earlier, he was a financial analyst with American International Group. Mr. Maier served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Kiev, Ukraine, focusing on privatization projects. He received his BBA from Emory University.
