Good Goes Global: The unite4:good Movement Kicks Off At The Clinton Global Initiative Annual Conference
Launched By Bright Future International and Leading Global Philanthropists, unite4:good Will Facilitate Positive Change Worldwide; Includes Social Network Platform, National Bus Tour, Grants to Non-Profits, Celebrity Ambassadors and More
NEW YORK, Sept. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Designed to create a worldwide environment of positivity, inspire giving, promote charitable engagement, compassion and empathy and foster a stronger sense of community, the unite4:good (unite4good.org) movement kicks off today at the annual Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) conference.
The movement brings together civic-minded youth, individuals, non-profits, small businesses, Fortune 500 companies, media organizations, community and world leaders, celebrities, and powerful influencers from the areas of government, finance, arts, science, education and entertainment among many others. Utilizing a multi-faceted and comprehensive approach - inclusive of new social media platforms and media partnerships, strategic alliances, international events, integrations with local communities, a powerful charitable coalition and more – the ultimate goal of the U4G campaign is to deliver a day when the number of people who want to help outnumber those who need it.
Founded by the non-profit Bright Future International (www.BrightFutureInternational.org), philanthropist Anthony Melikhov, and globally-recognized entrepreneurs and founders of PVBLIC Foundation, (www.pvblic.org) Antonio Ruiz-Gimenez and Sergio Fernandez de Cordova, U4G will be launched in October of 2013 and has already begun assembling an impactful team of affiliates, including The Clinton Foundation, The PeaceEarth Movement, The U.S. Fund for UNICEF, The Eva Longoria Foundation, Do Something.org, the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), and Conservation International, and media partner Invision by Associated Press. Notable supporters and leaders already include President Clinton, Forest Whitaker, Eva Longoria, Wilmer Valderrama, Marisa Jaret Winokur, and Ronda Rousey.
"By joining the unite4:good movement, people will create a positive impact on the well-being of their local community as well as themselves, for when we do good, we feel good," said Mr. Melikhov. "With enough people focused on helping others, we can facilitate an overall shift towards kindness and empathy on a global scale. We can do as much as we dream, so we must dream big."
"When we extend kindness to others, we stop being just an individual and we become a community," added Mr. Valderrama. "We become more powerful because we can change someone else's experience for the better. That's why this unite4:good movement is so vitally important."
"We are proud to work with unite4:good and share its goal of empowering the public to create positive change around the world," said Leslie Goldman, Vice President of Program and Community Engagement at the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. "Thanks to unite4:good, we'll be able to engage with more Americans who care about the well-being of children and help inspire them to take action."
In order to inspire, educate and empower people to contribute to positive change in their communities, U4G is utilizing a multi-platform approach to carry out its mission and catalyze on both the grassroots and global levels. Highlights of the movement include:
- The launch of a new social networking platform, unite4.org, which will facilitate unparalleled action and communication between people, causes, local organizations and community leaders who are making a positive difference in the world. Through this online and mobile network, grants and financial support of non-profits will be generated on the local, national and global level and civic-minded individuals who contribute to their community via service or action will be recognized.
- Promotions carried out on existing social networking platforms that culminate in empowering individuals with grants that will enable them to make their vision for changing the world a reality.
- An inspirational series of public service announcements featuring celebrities to promote kindness and empathy.
- The development of a council of worldwide leaders who will shape the movement, advise on grants awarded and guide charitable endeavors and innovative ideas that will positively impact the world.
- The awarding of media grants to non-profits via U4G partner PVBLIC Foundation.
- Day of Unity programs held in cities across the United States in 2013 - expanding around the world as the movement progresses.
- A nationwide bus tour in 2014 that will include cities such as New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, St. Louis, Nashville, Oklahoma City, Denver, and San Francisco. Activities at each stop include a focus on local heroes, community and campus forums to develop positive community plans, and maximizing awareness and commitment to local non-profits.
- The unite4:good Power of United Humanity Summit & Gala to be held in Los Angeles, CA during the week of the Academy Awards in February 2014. The summit will include the participation of leaders in the world of entertainment, media, fashion, art, science, education, politics, business and philanthropy, and will unite charities from around the world for the common cause of promoting philanthropy, kindness and empathy on a global scale. Select individuals who have developed impactful ideas on how they can change the world will be awarded significant grants to carry out their work.
- A unique and highly-recognizable photo campaign, kicked off by celebrity participants, to create awareness about the U4G mission. This will enable individuals to promote their personal commitment to the ideals and values for which they stand.
The launch of the movement has been personally funded by U4G co-founder Melikhov, who also serves as Founder of Bright Future International, a non-profit that creates programs promoting empathy, kindness and tolerance amongst children in their local communities around the world. U4G Co-Founders Ruiz-Gimenez and Fernandez de Cordova have pledged media grants worth millions of dollars to the campaign and its mission via their organization, PVBLIC Foundation, which harnesses the power of unused media assets to drive social change.
"We seek to unite, promote, and empower the millions of organizations and individuals doing extraordinary good in this world," said Fernandez de Cordova. "We want to give them the tools to collaborate, expand, and amplify their work. Together we can transform our world."
