Drivers can receive this discount by simply installing a qualifying text blocking device in their vehicle and providing a copy of the receipt as proof of purchase via email, fax, or postal service. Text blockers are hardware/software that disable certain functions of cell phones such as texting, email, and Internet browsing while a vehicle is in motion. Only essential call functionalities are allowed such as 911 emergency calls.

The state of Connecticut is tough on texting and driving and has zero tolerance for distracted drivers. Connecticut's anti-cell phone and texting ban, which became law in 2010, prohibits drivers from texting while driving. Under Connecticut's cell phone and texting law, violators who text and drive will face heavy fines, ranging from $125 for a first offense, $250 for a second violation, and $400 for each subsequent violation.

With the prevalence of texting and driving, especially among young people, Connecticut has been cracking down on illegal cell phone use with its Anti-Texting Enforcement Project. In conjunction with the "Phone in One Hand, Ticket in the Other" campaign, this project trains police officers to detect texting while driving behaviors. The next wave of crackdowns is set to wrap up this summer.
