Goodrich Goes Global With National Aerospace Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Goodrich Corporation (NYSE: GR) will recognize National Aerospace Week, beginning Monday, Sept. 12, with events at multiple facilities around the world.

Organized by the U.S. Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), the purpose of National Aerospace Week is to highlight the contributions of the aerospace and defense industry made to the economy and to also engage students to consider pursuing a career in the industry.

Goodrich is using National Aerospace Week to highlight the contributions of the international aerospace and defense industry. It is encouraging its facilities around the world to use the week for outreach to local communities and to provide students opportunities in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) educational learning. Some of the community outreach events include:

• Charlotte, N.C. – Goodrich headquarters facility has joined with Westerly Hills School to sponsor a weeklong of aerospace curriculum and activities, culminating in a field trip to Charlotte's Discovery Place science education center. Goodrich has also partnered with Discovery Place to sponsor science labs featuring aerospace, which will be available to the public throughout the month of September.
• Birmingham/Wolverhampton, UK – Goodrich's Actuation Systems and Engine Components businesses participated in the Imagineering Fair, organized by The Imagineering Foundation. Engineers from both businesses shared with students their experiences as engineers at Goodrich.
• Troy, Ohio – Goodrich's Aircraft Wheels and Brakes business is teaming up with the WACO Historical Society and NASA Aerospace Education Services Project to sponsor a teacher workshop featuring STEM applications. The goal of the program is to bring hands-on engineering and the adventure of space exploration to life in the classroom.

Internally, Goodrich employees from around the world will be celebrating with various social events and contests being held at multiple facilities. Senior leaders of Goodrich have also taken this opportunity to show appreciation for the accomplishments and dedication of all Goodrich employees.
